Virginia's Armenian Network or VAN was formed in the fall of 2009 with the hope of bringing together Armenians of different ages and professional backgrounds within the Richmond community and its surrounding areas. Our main focus is to provide an avenue for people to meet in a social and casual setting for the sharing of ideas and fellowship. VAN also extends its "network" to include non-Armenian friends as well.
VAN hosts "Happy Hours" every other month at different locations throughout Richmond. We are happy to say that the average attendance has been around 25 people per event. These events are typically organized by a committee of 4 who meet when necessary for planning purposes. The committee encourages the sharing of new ideas for programming, happy hour destinations, and outreach to new members. As our membership numbers increase, we hope to be able to cater to a variety of interests as well.
There are many ways to stay in touch with the network and its members. Look for us on Facebook, under Virginia's Armenian Network or email us at VaArmenianNet@aol.com. Our Facebook page is kept up to date with our activities and has 66 members so far. It has also become a great resource for information on events in other Armenian communities as well.
Our events have provided an environment where new friendships have been made, old friendships have been renewed, and existing friendships have had an excuse to "get together". Come out and join us at our next event and encourage your friends and family as well...you never know who you might meet!!
